Established
in 2006, Deborah Salter Fine Art promotes the works
and the interests of emerging and established contemporary
artists in Vietnam. It identifies groups who have little
prospect for international exposure, creates opportunities
for their art work to be shown and sold
internationally and encourages artists to develop their
full potential.
Deborah
combines the discipline from her Master of Arts degree
in Fine Arts/Art History from the University of Melbourne
with a passion for Vietnamese art and culture. She aims
to address the void which has existed in the representation
of Vietnamese contemporary art in Australia and to build
a greater awareness of the rich history which accompanies
its development.
This
passion has been expressed in a recent focus on the
acquisition, researching, conservation and exhibition
of original propaganda art from Vietnam. These acquisitions
cover the period from 1950’s to 1980’s and
have been selected for their intrinsic artistic merit
and embedded historical significance for the peoples
of Vietnam, Australia and for social and art historians
globally.
Original Vietnam propaganda posters from Deborah
Salter Fine Art have been acquired by the National Gallery
of Australia (Canberra) and The Art Gallery of New South
Wales for permanent collection.

In
2006 Deborah Salter Fine Art became the exclusive
representative in Australia of a newly established
artist’s collective called ‘Hanoi
Link’. The art of this Hanoi-based collective
defies Vietnamese stereotypes and pushes traditional
aesthetic boundaries.
The
artistic integrity and commitment demonstrated
by this youthful group to reflect the reality
and spirit of contemporary life in Vietnam is
compelling.
From 2006 Deborah Salter Fine Art has exhibited and sold Hanoi Link work and returned much needed income and validation to this independent artist's group.
