Deborah Salter Fine art has teamed up with MiFA in a non commercial exhibition to show a collection of original propaganda posters reflecting four decades in the development of modern Vietnam from the 1950's to the mid 1980's.

Nguyen Xuan Long’s delicate and intricate works explore his relationship and passion for Vietnamese proverbs. Passed down from ancestor to ancestor Nguyen seeks advice and guidance in these proverbs in his quest to understand himself. Within these images Nguyen encourages the viewer to reflect on this timeless source of knowledge in their own search for meaning.

“My paintings are my voice...” a collection
of powerful work by Hanoi based artist Giang Nguyen (b.1974).
Giang explores personal feelings about identity, gender and
sexuality. In an extraordinary and innovative mixing of media,
Giang weds traditional Vietnamese lacquer and oil paint to
create revealing and expressive shapes. Each is executed with
exquisite finesse, is richly organic and deeply personal.

The first time in Australia an exhibition
of paintings and works on paper by a non-mainstream
art group from Vietnam, Hanoi Link. Hanoi Link is a
group of 12 artists working in a number of areas of
contemporary art, whose mission is to create an alternative
discourse to mainstream Vietnamese art by exploring
identity in a challenging and progressive culture. Hanoi
Link paintings endeavor to capture the spirit of a young
community, and the Hanoi Link members wish to show an
international audience a new aesthetic which pushes
the traditional boundaries.
